Inspired by the works of Mike Mcquade, I created a collage magazine article cover to raise awareness to the increased amount of discrimination against Asians during the Covid-19 pandemic. I combined a mix of traditional and digital media to create this piece. After cutting, crinkling, and printing out some of the images to add some texture, they were scanned and edited with the other photos. Utilizing imagery and sources associated to the virus and negative stereotypes about Asians, I want each element to invoke the generalized fear and anxiety that was felt by Asians at the time when pieced together. The title "Who's the Virus" insinuates to how the virus was blamed on Asians, because people attached its identity to an entire race.
